WHAT: The 2nd Annual Sneaker Law x Miami Law Competition will take place all day Thursday, March 2rd, 2023 followed by a post-competition party. The following day, Friday, March 3rd, 2023, will be a conference, and the final round of competition.
COMPETITION INFORMATION
Case studies will allow you to represent artists, designers, and brands on issues including IP protection of sneakers, rights of publicity, licensing deals, and collaboration agreements.
Judged by industry lawyers and business executives.
Competition will include a full-day conference touching on contemporary legal and business issues impacting the sneaker industry.
ELIGIBILITY
Anyone can attend the conference. Must be currently enrolled in a JD or LL.M. program to compete. Graduate business school students and design students are eligible to participate. Participants can register as a team or as an individual and be paired with teammates. Teams (of up to 4) must include a law student but can also include business and design school students.

Note: Each participant will receive a Sneaker Law book (shipped to them) and a swag bag the day of the event, which is included in the registration cost.

11:45am-12:30pm – Keynote
12:30-2:00pm – Final rounds and awards
COMPETITION RULES
Registrants will receive three (3) case studies in advance of the competition. Two (2) will be marked preliminary rounds and one (1) will be marked final round.
On the Monday before the competition, registrants will be assigned to their preliminary round time slot and the client they are representing.
Each team will have two (2x) rounds (one AM and one PM).
Each team will have thirty (30) minutes to present to one (or two) judges and judges will have fifteen (15) minutes for feedback.
Judges will score each round using the Competition rubric created for this competition.
Scores will be totaled after morning rounds.
At the lunch break, the finalists (2-3 teams) will be announced, and they will be directed which party they will represent in the final case study (case study previously provided to them).
The final teams will present Friday afternoon on March 3, 2023, after the keynote address and judged in front of the live audience.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
Separate tickets will be available for the Sneaker Law conference (for those that do not wish to compete).

It is recommended participants stay in the neighborhoods of Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell or Dadeland, as they are closest to the University of Miami campus.
